The current Paula Rego exhibition at Tate Britain has received universal acclaim and she is now recognized as one of the most significant artists in the world today. With her work rooted in story-telling, she has often looked to Hogarth for her inspiration and is herself a collector of his prints.
This talk by Colin Wiggins, a former curator at the National Gallery who has worked with Dame Paula on different exhibitions, will look at how the two artists are closely connected.
The special exhibition Paula Rego at Hogarth’s House closes 28 November and includes both her After Hogarth series and the never before exhibited Wine series inspired by Hogarth’s Beer Street and Gin Lane, which she has gifted to Hogarth’s House.
